Privacy & cookie policy
Last updated: 2025. The short version: we collect as little as possible, ads and analytics only run if you consent, and PlanTrippr's free tools are supported by advertising and, occasionally, affiliate links.
What we collect
PlanTrippr has no user accounts, so we do not ask for or store names, emails, or profiles. The calculators run in your browser — the numbers you type stay on your device.
Cookies & local storage
We use a small number of cookie categories, managed through an IAB-registered, Google-certified Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF v2.3) consent management platform:
- Necessary — a single stored value that remembers your cookie choice so we don't ask again. Always on; it cannot be switched off because the site relies on it.
- Analytics — off by default. If you accept, we record anonymous, aggregated usage (which tools are opened, page views) to decide what to build next. No cross-site tracking.
- Advertising — off until you consent. Powers the ads that keep PlanTrippr free (see below). No ad or measurement script fires before your consent choice is recorded, for every visitor, regardless of location.
You can review or change your choice at any time via the consent banner or the consent management pop-up.
Google AdSense & advertising partners
PlanTrippr shows ads served by Google AdSense and its network of certified third-party advertising and measurement partners. If you consent to advertising cookies, these partners may:
- Set and read cookies (including Google's advertising cookies) or use similar technologies such as mobile device identifiers to serve and measure ads.
- Use data about your visits to this and other sites to show ads that are more relevant to you (personalized advertising).
- Share limited signals with each other, as permitted under the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework, to support ad delivery, frequency capping, fraud prevention, and reporting.
If you decline advertising consent, or where required by law, ads are shown without personalization and without the cookies used for personalized advertising. You can also opt out of personalized advertising directly via Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. See Google's own explanation of how it uses data from partner sites.
Affiliate links
Some tools and pages contain affiliate links — for example, to travel insurance, booking, or SIM-card providers. If you click one and make a purchase, PlanTrippr may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links do not affect the calculations or verdicts our tools give you; we link to a provider because it's relevant to the tool, not because of the commission.
Consent management platform
Consent is captured and stored via a Google-certified TCF v2.3 CMP (Consent Management Platform). No AdSense or other advertising script is permitted to load until that CMP has recorded a consent signal for the current visitor — this applies on first visit, on every device, and every time our advertising partners change.
Other third parties
We keep dependencies to a minimum outside of advertising. If we ever add a separate analytics provider, it will only load after you grant analytics consent, and it will be listed here.
